I try and keep politics off my blog. Politics tend to be very dividing and I know that I am just as guilty of this as anybody. So I just don’t post my political views here, normally but I am moved to speak on this. I am both happy and sad about the news regarding the filibuster about the bill requiring troop withdrawal by next spring. I am happy because I think that things will really go even further south than they already are if we just withdraw from there. I am sad because I really want to get our troops out of there! I have a personal, selfish reason for this. My local service engineer is over there right now. He was my local contact for keeping a very finicky instrument working. This instrument is also a huge revenue generator for my company. The quicker he comes back, the quicker I will be able to phone him up and have him at my lab within 2 days. Nice. Right now I am looking at a week, at least, for service. On a non-personal, non-selfish level, I just want all those men and women to be back in the good ole USA, where they can worry about life and not have to deal with all the crap they are dealing with.
