how the time flies…

April 17th, 2009 by Pavlina

Maybe I should redo this blog. I call it Life is not for the Living because it always seems to be that we all live in the now, without any thoughts about the past or the future. Myself, I think I spend way too much time in the past or the future, never in the now. When I do spend time in the now, it seems like I am robotic and not really enjoying myself, if that makes sense. So I call this LNFL, and it seems to reflect how I feel most of the time. I think we could all use more time thinking about the past and the future, those will be the best and worst times of our lives. We spend only a tiny fraction of our life in the “now” so it seems a bit silly to be so pre-occupied with it. That is where the saying “take the time to smell the roses” comes from, no? Sometime you need to stick your head up and look around. Then you realize what is so important. I bet it isn’t the latest gadget or widget, although those things can be pretty cool.

At any rate, I have been spending a lot of time in the now lately. Way too much and I have noticed getting more and more restless. I crave the past and the future again. Maybe it isn’t too good to spend too much time in the past, but those memories are so nice aren’t they? (hmmm, my nanny is way too ill, getting sick. I hope she hasn’t got the stomach flu and it spreads around the house :( ) See what I mean, way too much in the now. At any rate, I like to tell stories here, or anecdotes about how I live in the now, or see others living in the now. Sometimes I go completely off-topic and talk about shoes, or makeup, or whatever. I try to keep it all within the theme.

My job has been crazy busy lately, we are all scrambling to keep our jobs and keep the company in the black. Technically, being part of the sales organization, I am in the front line of this entire recession. I had better enjoyed my fat commission checks from last year, as I don’t think I will be seeing them this year. Too bad. So I haven’t been around as much and you haven’t seen my prose here. When I get home,, I have been either sewing or gaming and not really interested so much in the writing. (speaking of which, the novel has really suffered. Good thing I wasn’t planning on quitting the day job).

So no story right now, but do remind me to tell you about my hopefully positive Karma balance and the incredible stupidity I have had to deal with lately.
