travel, oh the insanity

June 11th, 2008 by Pavlina

So here I am at the Salt Lake City airport, writing a blog post. Boy did I ever have me some bad travel kharma yesterday. My flight was almost two hours delayed from BWI, I was reassured that my flight in Phoenix would wait…it did not. The plane was broken, so a good thing it was grounded, but took forever for Southwest to get us another plane and by the time they did, the flight was already over an hour late, then it was HOT in there! It took an hour for the plane to reach other-than-sauna temperatures. Usually I am freezing on planes, but no need on this one! The despite the promises and reassurances my plane would wait in Phoenix, it did not. I missed it by 10 minutes. Ugh. So I grumpily brought this up and it turned out that Phoenix had “computer” issues and didn’t know they were meant to hold the flight. Herrrrmmmm, so I got something to eat, by this time is felt like 6pm to me. There is a small mexican restaurant, not bad, so I got some blue corn quesadillas and a gin and tonic. Then my next flight was delayed…oh the injustice of it all. So my 23 hour stay turned into a not quite 20 hour stay in Salt Lake City. So here I am back at the terminal. SO far my flight is on time but we’ll see how long that lasts.

I’m pretty tired. More tired than I should be. Regardless of my feeble attempt to stay on East coast time, by not resetting any of my time keeping devices, etc. Although I am always tired after a seminar, regardless and combine that with a lot or arse-sitting, I guess you just get tired. I’ll probably be asleep before we take-off.

Well, a lame post but yet another story from the living, as it were. I never promised excitement, or did I? I can’t remember.
