Pavlina: Life is Not For the Living

I have been on a eye shadow buying bent lately. It all started (well, really like 20 years ago) when Jason went to Japan and I got him to bring me some Majolica Majorca products back. I have been lusting after these for sooooo long. Majolica Majorca is the drugstore line of Shiseido. Kind of similar to L’Oreal and Lancôme. The colors in MM are so heavenly….Check them out. Those ladies over at Make Up Alley do a bang up job with the reviews and fleckenschnitte in particular always has beautiful swatches and photos.

So, like I was saying, I armed Jason with a list and being the super husband that he is he went to a Japanese drug store and got me my crack make up. I was ever so happy and pleased when he got home. In my bundle I had a automatic eyeliner pen (in a bronze color), three individual eye shadows (in varying tones of brown, a taupe brown, a cocoa brown and a warm brown) and a Majolook palette in green. The Majolook is an eye shadow palette with three small eye shadows and a highlighter.

I had, not so far before that, also bought the MAC mineralize eye shadow duo in illusionary/burning ambition which is a yellow based frosted vanilla and a rich brown. I also got the graphite brown gel liner.

The I went to a CCO and got a new pigment in Sunpepper and gorgeous gold eye shadow, neither of which are brown.

I went to Beauty First and got that Urban Essentials kit which had three brown shadows: a taupe brown, a cocoa brown and a red- brown.

In my collection I have (that I can recall off the top of my head)

MAC: Woodwinked, Bagatelle, vanilla pigment (almost gone), Coco pigment, Provence pigment (MIA)

Sonia Kashuk: Sugar and spice duo

Clinique: various browns including the mink duo

L’Oreal HIP: pigment in Restless

The rest: an old Almay quad, Lancôme color focus duo, Ulta single shadows.

You know, now that I write it out it doesn’t seem like so much.

I wanted a new eye shadow. I need one like I need a hole in the head. I was trying to recreate this look from the Sephora catalog. So I put on my base, then a nice peachy blush. Then I look through my eye shadows. Hmmm. I don’t really have a golden brown. How is that even possible? I really don’t have a true cream-colored eye shadow either. It seems my only solution would be to buy the Stila eye shadow trio. I didn’t bother with the sheer lip, I used my MAC lip lacquer in ignite which is a brick red color. Maybe i should have thtough, as O gaze at the picture. I’ll try again tomorrow.

I made do with Woodwinked and the lighter shade of the sugar and spice duo with Shimpagne over top for more shimmer. Then my cake black eyeliner. You know, it looks nice. My brow isn’t as light, so maybe next time I’ll use my Clinique sugar shadow with Shimpagne. The point is, I am not buying any more eye shadow. In the near future…

What I really need is more lip color…after all, didn’t I just throw out like ten of them…
