WordPress makes it very difficult to write a post with any links or images. When I write the XHTML code, WordPress “eats” it. Then in my draft window, it will put the link in blue underlined. The image will just show up as a blue box. When I look at the preview window, it is not much help. I then publish the page and I have dead links because WordPress just fills in random code. It likes to place “www.lifenotforliving.com/blog” before every address in the HTML code. Why it does this, I have no idea. So it takes me another 15 minutes or so to monkey arond with the code in a HTML window I can open inside the WordPress editor after I have written it.
So this is how I do my posts:
- Write post in word
- Paste in WordPress editor
- Save the draft, preview in editor for any obvious errors
- Publish the draft, view page in browser and check all broken links and images
- Go back into WordPress editor, call up HTML window, fix broken links and images
- Save, then view in browser window, check links and windows
- Go back into WordPress editor and call up HTML window, fix broken link and images
- Save and view in browser, hopefully everything is fixed.
When I write my post in Word, I try and remove all formatting that Word puts in. I also make sure my XHTML is correctly formed. If I am still having the same problems after I start writing my post in Notepad, drastic measures will be taken. Like moving to Typepad.*sigh*
